Looming tariff threats

Trump again threatens India with harsh tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump again threatened on Monday to raise tariffs on goods from India over its Russian oil purchases, while New Delhi called his attack unjustified and vowed to protect its economic interests, deepening the trade rift between the two countries.
When major importers like India face tariff threats or sanctions, there’s a risk that global oil supply chains could be disrupted, and if President Trump follows through with his threat to impose secondary sanctions on buyers of Russian oil, crude futures are likely to rise again. The further development of oil prices therefore depends largely on Trump's decision.
